Erasmus/Long Life Programme – Office
The Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila has taken part in the Erasmus educational exchange programme since 2000. This exchange programme, financed by the European Community, encourages student and teacher mobility thus helping to break down cultural barriers and strengthening the European dimension of education by also encouraging a wider knowledge of the languages spoken in the Union.
Even during the Socrates phase of the European Programme which concluded at the end of the academic year 2006-2007, the Institute was able to implement both incoming and outgoing student and teacher mobility over the whole of Europe, thanks to its efforts to contact new partners eligible to participate. In 2007, the Erasmus Programme became part of the community ‘Lifelong Learning Programme’ which offers participating Institutes and thus its students and teachers, further exciting opportunities. Thus the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila can now offer its students Erasmus grants for study periods in Universities or equivalent Institutes abroad as well as grants for work placements in businesses in other European countries (Erasmus Placement); similarly the Institute offers the same opportunities for students wishing to do the same in Italy. In addition to incoming teachers from other European Universities it will also be possible for the Academy to welcome guests from businesses abroad to enrich the Institute’s teaching programme, guaranteeing students lively and versatile courses.
Participating in the new opportunities offered by the community programme also allows teachers, in addition to teaching abroad, the chance to participate in training activities at other Institutes and businesses. The interest the Academy invests in international activities and the positive outcome of the same is borne out by all of the students and teachers who have had the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus mobility programme.
