Teaching objectives:

The academic courses of the level I Diploma of the School of Scenography are designed to equip students with a command of artistic methods and techniques as well as specific area and professional skills. Students will be taught design and expression methodologies for use with representational instruments, and artistic practices with particular reference to theatrical, television and cinematographic scenography and dressing techniques for advertising and windows. The aim of the School’s courses is to develop students’ skills in the use of expressive, traditional and contemporary technological instruments with reference to space management and the principles of representation. In addition, the School’s courses aim to equip students with the technical knowledge necessary for the use of materials for the implementation of projects, environmental operas and develop research into the languages of visual art.

Graduates of the school’s diploma courses will:

- gain a suitable technical and practical command of art methods and study, as well as sculpture techniques and technology, acquiring an autonomous and personal awareness of artistic production;

-possess suitable methodological and analytical instruments, acquiring competency in expressive languages and more advanced techniques and technology;

- be able to communicate efficiently about their field of interest and be able to exchange information of a general nature in at least one of the languages of the European Union, besides their own;

- possess suitable skills and tools for communication and information management, in particular, in the field of computer science.

Work prospectives

Graduates from the School will be able to work professionally in private and public sectors in the field of theatrical, cinematography and television scenography as well as in costume provision for the world of entertainment.

The Academy organizes suitable placements and work experience opportunities in collaboration with public and private organizations to give students the opportunity to gain professional experience in their field of interest. In addition, the Academy sets up specific training modules for each course.

Entry requirements To be admitted to the level1 Diploma course students must have gained a high school diploma or the equivalent qualification from a school abroad recognised by the Academy in line with international agreements. Students will be selected on the basis of the entrance exam, the aim of which is to assess their formal education and artistic and technical skills with particular reference to their representational and design skills.
Entry test
Final exam The final exam consists of the evaluation of two theses:

  • one of an artistic/design nature consisting of work on a theme assigned by the tutor of the course;
  • the other of a historical and theoretical nature or methodological or technical and artistic nature, taking the form of an essay on one of the disciplines covered in the curriculum or the student’s personal study plan.

The theses may also entail the production of art work.
